Turning cellulose into something more useable than just animal filler. This can mean a turning point... The kicker is he beat so many institutions and mega million backed studies. It’s pure and simple and I’m sure we will hear and see it growing year by year. They are making the factory in Moses Lake, WA https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.cbsnew ... 0-minutes/

Cool, but it always makes me cringe to hear former large petroleum execs on the board of directors for a new "green" alternative.
They specifically mention corn cobs and making fuel, I hope they find a process to do it with a mix of general yard-waste type of material. I thought I read somewhere that growing corn was not sustainable due to the amount of space/water it takes per X of fuel generated.

Corn - it’s true it takes a huge amount of water but it’s a crop that is heavily grown for many reasons and therefore the byproduct (corn Cobb etc) is a waste product. So might as well use that since it’s readily available, relatively clean and I’m sure pretty cheap.
I’m sure once this gets going they will need more access to cheap and readily available cellulose stocks.
As for the board of directors coming from ex oil etc. I think that’s a totally approapriate stance. I do think that the folks here are “vested” into the technology from a more human standpoint versus a monetary standpoint. Well, at least that is my hope...

This is super interesting to me. Mr Medoff's ego made me laugh out loud a few times... Messianic, Einsteinian, etc. I hope that he is on the right track and that this all comes to fruition.
The very large source of (currently unusable) cellulose could be found in all the forests around the country that are a bit overloaded with fuel supply, leading to the big fires. In addition to the completely unmanaged biomass that leads to the fires, there are millions of tons of biomass that are burned in semi-controlled slash fires following logging activities. Also, the millions and millions of tons of biomass that end up in dumps and recycling centers around the country.

With all that biomass... it’s processing into “clean” useable product. Just like recycling is problematic even in “sorting” because it’s all trash - food, poop and everything else mixed in and to separate it all cost time and money.
Eventually, I am quite sure all that will be used. But I can see the need to start off using an already readily available - simple byproduct of current mass production. Corn Cobb makes sense, especially coming directly from off the production like where it’s “clean” and easily turned into what they need it.
Moses Lake also makes sense since it has huge factories that process corn and other frozen food products.

It struck me as funny as well. All I can say he is backing up those BOLD claims and history will obviously prove him wrong or right. I’m hoping even half his claims would make me happy.

How long before big oil buys the patent and hides it?

What happened to KISS. It is so much easier to masticate corn cobs and then pelletize them and use for heating.
