Ok, all you phone gurus out there...
This old fart finally broke down and bought what is supposed to be a smarter smart phone than my last one.
Now I am wondering if this one is all that smart, either...
It has been activated.
Supposed to be able to make a call.
Actually got a message from tracfone already, welcoming me, telling me how many minutes I have, etc...
Should be working.
But when I turn it on, it says that android setup isn't done.
I swipe that, to get to the link for "finish setup".
Tap on that.... And it wants me to make an emergency phone call.
Back out of that. And find that no matter WHAT I do on the screen, EVERYTHING leads to the phone wanting me to make an emergency phone call. that is all it will allow me to do.
Any ideas how I can finish the setup, and get the phone actually working?

Never mind.
Decided to call myself as that emergency call...
It asked for my password...
Instead of making a phone call, it went right back into setup. LOL
Stupid smart phones.
Why can't these things just work, right out of the box?

Read your track agreement. It used to be Item 10 with smartphones. You are locked into your calling network and the phone will only work within that network so If you were to take a drive the phone would have no service. Your pone will show bars and not be able to connect and in rural environments where G3 is only available you can not connect. I had a trac smart phone for a month before I discovered their fraud. If you are an outdoors person a trac smart phone is useless. When you down grade trac will steal the minutes that you do not have allocated to talk. I use a trac LG 501C non smart phone cause it works most places in the woods.

Now it makes and receives calls. And I sat here for a while putting in all my contacts, one at a time. (My old phone was too stupid to upload them.) So I am ready for phone calls. Tomorrow I may try the internet. Hopefully I won't sell my left kidney, or enslave my phone to some birth certificate factory in China...

The last one was supposed to be a smart phone, was possibly the stupidest one ever. This is an actual smart phone. I think......... Bottom line though, no tracfone that I have ever had, has ever failed to work... Anywhere that Any other phone would work. No matter the network. If my phone didn't work, no one's phone would work. No matter the network. Plenty of times my phone would work, and no one else around me could get theirs to work. They were on the wrong network. Mine would work on any network at all.

This phone... I have to stand up, and hold the phone in the window, as hgih as I can get it, to make or receive phone calls. Weaker antenna? I think I need one of those repeater thingys or whatever they're called. Oh boy. More PTSD...

I think maybe this phone is a little smarter than I am.
But I will not give up!
Little by little. Learning one small thing at a time. I am GOING to master this thing!
