Well, while doing deliveries in smokey point, I came across a Chris who owns a holden commodore Ute. Amazing car, Very jealous. I love those things and never thought i'd see one of them up here. Left hand utes in Colorado does the conversions to make them legal. Best part? 1000lb bed capacity and they can tow up to i believe 4k lbs. I have never needed one more in my life then right now. https://photos.app.goo.gl/ioShmGxdDYsPf8wt7

I still don't understand why GM won't import those things. Ah hell, I probably couldn't afford one anyway. (if you were to capitalize Holden, I would of known right off)

That car is actually a Holden Ute (the Commodore is a 4-door sedan). My husband watched it make a pull on the dyno a while back.

GM and Ford stopped making them when people stopped buying them. The El Camino lasted till 87 and Ranchero stopped in 79. Australia still wanted them so Holden, GM down under and Ford kept producing them. It was a supply and demand thing. They look bad ass but are pretty useless compared to a ranger or S10. I always wanted to put a VW TDI in a mid 60s Ranchero converted to a Mercury Comet front end. Then daily drive it. The Pontiac GTO that came out a few years back was basically a 2 door Holden Ute.
There is a company that makes a kit to build a VW Jetta Ute.

I'm glad you posted that. I would have been forced to otherwise.

Huh, I live a few miles due east of Smokey Point, and I have not seen this. I am going to have to keep an eye out. I have always admired the Ute concept from Down Under.

Shit, might make a good replacement for the suburban for towing my trailer
One major downside, forget it about parts, Holdens were hard to get parts for before, and will soon be impossible now that they are out of business. Engine stuff is easy being LS based, but rest of it....
