I know I'm not that old but I seem to remember signing in a log book when buying ammo at one time.

I remember that, one shop that used to be in Mt Vernon used to tell us "Just tell me it`s for a rifle" he hated the log book and didn`t enforce it by the letter of the law. I was only 18 so guess where I got all my ammo
