So . . . I emailed Bear Creek. I let them know about the packaging and provided photos. I told them that my barrels were fine and I wasn't asking for anything, I was just letting them know about the packaging. I also told them that one of my thread protectors didn't work well, as described above. I said that if they decide to replace the thread protector I'd be grateful, but if not then I'd make it work. Well, they shipped me a new thread protector. I got the UPS tracking number and thought, "This is going to be the smallest UPS package EVER!". Well, not so much. Today it arrived; here are the pics. Lemme tell ya, this thread protector could have survived any possible disaster! I got a good laugh when I unpackaged it. And yes, this one works much better than the first one. My money is on who ever received your email packed that them self. Well you know what they say, the squeaky wheel gets the grease. I still wonder what exactly was off with the first thread protector. Out of spec threads? A bur? Weird that something so simple got screwed up.

All three (four, now) of the thread protectors I bought are a little tough to screw on and off. Realistically, this is kind of a good thing since hopefully it means that they’ll stay tight while shooting. I kept working on the bad one after I emailed them. I put some oil on the threads and just kept cranking it on and off. It’s actually working pretty well now.

When you get a thread protector that's too tight like that, put a little dab of fine valve lapping compound on the threads and work it back and forth gently. (Don't force it, it could stick in place.) That laps the threads together, and once the lapping compound is removed, they should thread together smoothly.

See, the problem is that if you're a smart guy and have a practical solution for every problem, then you can't create bitchy threads. And then my post count would be in the toilet!

I'm curious if the chambers suffer from LWitis. IE really undersize.

I took a couple different reload flavors and spun them in the chamber, and they moved freely. That’s not overly scientific, and I have started making my ammo a little shorter due to my Lone Wolf barrels ... so maybe I just told you nothing. But so far so good, for me.

I actually had to open my LW chambers up. Work well, measure out somewhat centered between the LW barrel and the Glock hot dog in the hall chamber. But even then, if your ammo ain't right, the chamber will talk to you.

I've had to open up the chamber on every LW barrel I've used too. These Bear Creek barrels don't seem quite as tight, just judging by my own sample size of 2.

Anyone run a suppressor on one of the threaded G17 barrels? I read a review that said they were not "suppressor length", and only worked for comps. Half the reason I would get a threaded barrel is to run my sico hybrid.

Want a pic or something?

Could be the reviewer had no idea what they were talking about, but BCA seemed to agree? ETA I had no idea there was a difference. Maybe he got a bad barrel?
