EDIT: Back up to $24...Not that great of a deal...
As much as I dislike them, for around $20 delivered to your door, it's a great entry into radio.
It will also work on MURS and FRS (although technically not legally)
These are not digital, or encrypted, and not secure in any way, but they make a good first radio to toy with.
Edit: Price change. Was $18.58

Public service announcement-
These are ham radios that require an fcc license to operate. As stated they are programmable to frequencies that they are illegal to operate on.
Great little bic lighter radios, just know what you are buying

Great little bic lighter radios, just know what you are buying Good call. They're cheap enough that, hopefully, it gets some people interested.... and they get their license. In the meantime, they can monitor all they want, and, yes, they're technically illegal to use on MURS/FRS, as stated...but that doesn't stop Antifa...

A group of us from arf got spun up after Katrina. A few took online multiple guess tests until they had it good enough to Ace the test. Really not that hard unless you want more license, then it gets more intense.
