My new leather power recliner just showed up. Been looking for one for several months. Was locking for top grain leather and something that would last.
Looked everywhere..costco was garbage, others were overpriced or bad reviews. Finally saw this recliner on Macy's. It had several great reviews.. It was $969, on sale for $679(29%off) ...now an additional 10% off...$611. I just received mine today, so I called and they refunded me to the new price.
First off..if you buy this from Macy's, they have different tiers of delivery. Obvious you can pick up in the store. The 3 delivery tiers(each has a little charge)...1) delivery inside your door, you take garbage. 2)deliver to any room. They unpack and take the 2 pieces to a room of your choice. You assemble, you take garbage. 3)unpack. Room of choice. They assemble and take garbage.
I picked the 2nd option, I figured I could put it together move it into place where I wanted, etc. Im plenty strong, but it was a bitch, to hold the top and try and get both sides started. And yes, I have done this before..I worked independently as an assembler for stores as well as at boeing as a final assembly mechanic on the 737 & 767 final join. Yes..I laid it partially on its back. After that, just plug it in.
Ok..if you buy this, get the best package delivery. It's only a few dollars more. And I had no idea that it would be 1 gigantic box packed in Styrofoam. Hate that crap...was expecting 2 smaller boxes and cardboard padding. The delivery I got, they just pulled it out of the package and put it in the room. Clean up is on you. Unless you have a dump trip planned, a big dumpster near by or a few weeks of patience to cut it up and put it in a week at a time...let them take the crap, it's worth it.
Few things.. no instructions other than put the top on the bottom, plug in plugs. No explanation of the buttons. It's pretty basic and you can Google search for help. 1 button up/down 1 button head rest and a home button you hold to return to down..seems same as the regular down button? Also has USB, but have not checked phone charge.
So far only thing I noticed..and this was in one of the reviews...it off gasses...reviewer claimed a few wipes downs will make it better. Some to me, smell like lube in moving parts? Also power cord is on rear right..not sure why it's not centered? My power is on the left, so I just tucked it across where the upper velcro to the lower.
It's very comfortable so far. I'm 5'8" and if I sit straight my toes will touch the ground, so reclined a little it's super comfy. I'm semi stocky and can put my arms between my legs and side arms, so seat is wide and comfy...Haven't tried an extra pillow, but if like an elbow pillow, it would probably work OK. Operation is smooth and quiet.
Time will tell, but so far, so good. And Macy's has great return policies if there's any issues. Great price..my friend used to work in furniture, she said that it's good quality brand and that they sold these for that price 10 years ago!
