If you're sticking up for preps, backpacker, or hunter, check out Midway. The wife and I just placed an order for some #10 cans. Pretty damn good deal.

I have a few #10 freeze dried cans. 25 year + shelf life. 20% off https://www.midwayusa.com/food/br?cid=21078Only downside is it’s in bulk. Once you open the can. You need to plan to use it within 6-12 month (depends on storage/humidity).

Costco was carrying a bulk box for a while. Good deal there too. We snagged a couple, 2 different menus. Those are pouches however, so easy to grab a few for hunting trips or whatnot. This is a good price for the #10 cans. We grabbed 6. More for long term preps in this case for us.

After years of prepping..
The biggest mistake most people make…
Is that they rely on bulk or long term food but in reality once they open it have little clue how and what to make (to make it edible).
Most people don’t cycle the long term food into regular food at all. So this leads to waste and not knowing… what to make it taste better and maximize the use.
Granted in a true disaster.. when hunger sinks in people will eat whatever they can get their hands on.
Case study - group of average people hike around on a reality survival show. After 2 months you see them honed in and bragging about eating squirrels and even a porcupine. Eating the fat and showing off the skulls of their meal.
So back on point. It is a good deal. Grab it up and put some aside. lol

I have been tracking prices for many years Most of the prices now while OK are NOT a good deal. Those are all gone!
I will second OLDKIM's advice. Do what we do and use your preps as part of your regular cooking cycle. There are some things that are just not very good. Somethings that with some added veggies or other ingrediants makes it good enough. A few other things that are actually pretty good.
Most of you will find that most #10 cans do not hold enough for you have any real issue finishing them before they go bad. There are some tricks that will help. 1. rebag everything int he can in ziplock bags. 2. Add a moisture absorber packet to every bag or at least every can. 3. If the lid doesn't fit tightly try another lid until you find one that does. 4. Use the dented cans FIRST! 5. Store somewhere that does NOT have temperature swings or gets hot!
And for sure open a can and try what you store. Based on my experience and I do habve a spreadsheet that shows what is good and bod at least to me. Also at the link in the signature is a full spreadhseet with the nutrients. I use such a spreadsheet to track what I have stored so i know when to go look for stuff.
ALSO, as another resource. look up North Bay Trading. They run weekly specials on various items. Everything is packed for somewhat short term but you can buy in bulk for cheaper and split it up, repacked and make it last. they are my go to place for most vegetables and fruit now. If you are up North here I order from them regularly. Would be happy to split an order with others. So we can get a better price. Shoot me a PM about anything above would be happy to share what I have learned over the years and coordinate procuring more supplies.

BTW the 20% off brings some of those down to more like normal list price (at least a couple of years ago) so for right now those are good prices on at least some of it. Some of the others are WAY overpriced still even with the 20% off.

In recent times, I am happy with the pricing. They beat Amazon across the board, even before the 20% off on some of it. Definitely beat what I pay for MH at local retail.

Those of you who shop at MidwayUSA, my roommate's sister has a hookup with MidwayUSA and can save you approximately 10% off your order... which is awesome especially when MidwayUSA has those free shipping deals/offers.

Good time to stock up. With fertilizer supplies going south and diesel going high, farmers are going to have their lowest output on food this year. If you go to this page, Patriot Supplies has about 10 hours left for $150 off a 3 month supply (1.5 month for 2) https://mypatriotsupply.com/pages/john- ... 770.0f21b1
