That's some pretty cheesy stuff. Save up a few more bucks and get a quality piece from NWSafe.

Better than sticking them in a closet or under the mattress.

These are decent safes when you cant afford much and need something.
I have two of the cabinet ones tgat works great for the office safe and an ammo safe.
Takes about 5 min to breakninto them but that might be enough of a deterant.
Also these safes make for a great decoy.

For this price point any fire resistant rating is great.

I've always wondered how many thieves are deterred by a "real" safe versus cheap one.

Banks don't rely on safes to keep thieves out, they count on their alarm system bringing the police before the robbers have time to crack a safe.

If thieves are in your home and the alarm is going off they probably won't try to open your safe either. If they're in with power tools and no alarm going off they can eventually break open any safe.

^ Very true. A safe, or security container, should be part of a multi-layer security system. Dog, motion alarms, etc.

There are videos on youtube on how to break into various safes in minutes. Ofcourse they would need to know what safe you have to know which video to watch ahead of time. That said, there are probably 1/2 a dozen people in my town who have safes in their living rooms which are easily visible from the sidewalk.

Looks like the 36 is still on sale at that price, while the 20 went up $50. Here's another option too:

Winchester 26 Gun Safe $100 OFF - $549.99
