Well, they had threaded black and stainless G17 barrels yesterday. Maybe I got the last black one.

My box o' barrels landed today. I ordered three barrels plus three thread protectors, two for me and one for lamrith.

As soon as I picked up the box on the porch, I heard barrels clinking together. That didn't make me happy.

Inside the box, the three thread protectors were in a Ziploc bag, the black barrel as in a plastic sleeve, and the two stainless barrels were loose. The thin white foam went around the inside of the box (to protect the cardboard from the barrels, I guess), but there really wasn't anything to protect the barrels from each other . . . hence the clinking as they whacked into each other. :angryfire:

Image

The thread protectors on the stainless barrels have some pretty good friction as I thread them on, but that's probably not a bad thing since hopefully it'll keep them from vibrating off during shooting. The thread protector on the black barrel is SERIOUSLY tight, and I can only get it all the way on if wrap it with a rubber band so I can get a better grip and REALLY crank on it. As you can see in the pic, it's not completely on and I'm not sure if it's gonna get there.

The whitish stuff on the black thread protector is from my kitchen towel.

*shrug*

I guess you get what you pay for . . . .

I haven't tried them in any guns yet.

I received mine today too, but I only ordered one and it was wrapped up pretty nicely. Like you, haven't tried it in yet. We'll see...

I got mine today as well, both were wrapped up nicely, but the bare stainless one was the wrong barrel (for the wrong model Glock). Will be asking for an exchange of course.

For some reason my black one also came in a plastic sleeve, but the stainless did not. I'm guessing their nitrider puts them in plastic sleeves after finishing.

What I’m learning from this thread is, if I make a batch of cheap products with no reputation and post them for sale, I’m going to get some products sold. :hides

The rubber bands and kitchen towel were good ideas but did you let the wife give it a try? :peep:

If she sees that towel, she might twist off my skull... if she manages that, I’ll let her have a go at the thread protector!

Sounds like it's time to get a polymer 80.

Bear Creek actually has a pretty good reputation in the AR barrel arena. Guaranteed MOA, and great customer service.

Steve - I think it is definitely a good idea to at least drop them a note letting them know how the product came in. Having been in the distribution arena, the CS/management may have no idea how the warehouse is packaging (or not in this case) outbound products. New people come in, people get overloaded, etc and shitty things happen. They need to be aware so they can correct it. That is completely counter to the packaging of the AR barrels I have purchased from them and the packaging from others in this thread. One thing for barrel not to be in it's own baggy, another thing for it three of them to be just rolling around in the box as shown.

Pretty sure all the barrels were packaged the same, 5 loose barrels in a box with some foam in there. I don't care, for the price I paid , I'm happy they fit and function. :thumbsup2:

So . . . I emailed Bear Creek. I let them know about the packaging and provided photos. I told them that my barrels were fine and I wasn't asking for anything, I was just letting them know about the packaging.

I also told them that one of my thread protectors didn't work well, as described above. I said that if they decide to replace the thread protector I'd be grateful, but if not then I'd make it work.

Well, they shipped me a new thread protector. I got the UPS tracking number and thought, "This is going to be the smallest UPS package EVER!".

Well, not so much. Today it arrived; here are the pics.

Lemme tell ya, this thread protector could have survived any possible disaster! I got a good laugh when I unpackaged it. :ROFLMAO:

And yes, this one works much better than the first one.
