Amazon bought the Ring doorbell/camera company, and has dropped the price.

I have the Ring doorbell. It works great. Haven’t had any problems with it.

I’ve got the Ring Pro 2. It’s aight. Great concept, mediocre delivery. I find adjusting the area of motion easy, but not all that accurate. I’ve got the border in my front yard, but constantly get alerts for cars driving past the house. Sound is spotty and crackly. You’ll want to keep the sound muted on your phone, or the person on your porch will know when you click on the live feed. Overall, it works great for what I wanted. A way for a disabled wife to screen door knockers. $30 a year to maintain access to video clips of alerts is nice, but as we see, doesn’t help cops much. Night vision works ok. Keep your expectations realistic.

When we got our ADT alarm installed, the installer had an extra Ring 2 doorbell with him so I had him install it. It’s pretty good.
He mentioned that he has the Ring Pro on his House and said that he has a fair amount of problems with it. And that he gets a lot of customer complaints about it. But the Ring 2 hasn’t been problematic for his customers.
My only gripe is that the speaker is a little quiet. I live on a fairly busy street and the person at my door can’t always hear me. I’m also struggling to fine tune the motion sensor so get the right balance of seeing what’s going on in my driveway and not getting false alerts from the garbage truck driving by.
On a separate but somewhat related note, ADT has improved their customer service. I know that a lot of people here have gripes about ADT but they’ve taken good care of me.

I installed the ring 2 about 3 weeks ago and it works great. You do have to play with the motion detector but once your dialed in I have had no problems.

The original model Ring has been $99 for a while now, or at least it was, homedepot had them for that price in Jan when I bought mine. I have one, biggest most important thing is to make sure you have stellar wifi signal where it will be mounted. Not just signal but strong signal. Mine has had significant delays at time notifying me of motion, to the point the person was back at the road by the time I got it to open up. No big deal, I have them on video regardless, but can be annoying if you wanted to talk to them. Mine is odd with it's sensitivity, it will not catch something 30yrds in front of it where the zone is active, but it will catch the garbage truck 50yrds away in a zone that is supposed to be disabled.
Overall not quite living up to my expectations, but I am glad I have it as I can keep an eye on people coming and going near my front door and for $99 it is not bad.

And don’t forget to check voltage requirements. I only had 12ish at the doorbell and had to find / replace the little transformer deal to get 16ish required.
