I've never really wanted one of these, but that price is hard to ignore. I'm in.

What's the legal mumbo jumbo on these? A quick google-fu pulled an article from 2015 that basically says if you mount it on a rifle lower it's an SBR. However, if you mount it on a pistol lower then you're good to go with no tax stamp. Is that still accurate/current?

Yes. On a pistol lower it is Good to Go! Just make sure you dont have a stock, otherwise you better be filing a tax stamp.

In this day and age of really cheap AR's, who doesn't have a pistol lower?

I have shot the X-Products Can Cannon(apparently the same thing). Yes they are legit. This looks like it needs a dust cover too, but yes, BCG and a CH and g2g. Not sure about launching cement or tannerite, but you should be able to if you so desired.

I am a buyer if we get this small group buy together. Just saying...

Legit? I watched a couple shooters run the course we used for Black Rifle League at Renton with them this month. It wasn't fast but it was a blast to watch. A 12 oz can tears up a cardboard silhouette.
They launch full soda cans quite well. Tennis balls are a bit loose but evidently work well. Not sure if the impact of the blank could set off tannerite in the tube but I wouldn't want to try it. Probably better powders to use than cement, brighter colors with chalk.

holy crap, one place is selling them for $350! but also is billing it as a t-shirt launcher, they have dedicated launcher balls, grappling hooks, I like the idea of chalk bombs, maybe even party confetti!

Blanks are available from F5 also but not the best price out there. A quick web search for "5.56 blanks" will yield plenty of hits.

I believe the issue with using a rifle lower was with the early version that used a very short, regular AR barrel. Pretty sure brand x had to recall all that had sold and modify them to not be capable of firing regular ammo. With the barrel that is used in these only a blank can be chambered and there is no through bore. Think of that Franklin Armory shorty AR with a non-rifled barrel, not a SBR because there is no rifling, therefore no rifle.
I could be incorrect. I didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Anyone have those fancy star crimp dies to reload your own blanks? Can you shed some light on any peculiarities that are different from reloading the average .223? Can we use regular once fired brass? Do you use a wad/packing material or sealant to prevent powder leakage?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I purchased one from F5- they are legit, and will launch a full can approximately 100+ yards, have not experimented with anything else. Just remember what goes up must come down and it’s at the same force......

Holy Moly, I almost just posted trying to get in on the group buy. Didn't see this was a zombie thread from 2018 until I tried to follow the link to the group buy, LOL!

Maybe I need to pick the ball up and run another group buy. I think F5 still does the 5 for 4 deal. Off to check into it.....
