It's not suppressed... It's moderated.

No 4473, no $200 tax stamp.

Quote:
WHY DON’T I NEED A TAX STAMP?
The BATFE defines a silencer as a “device for
silencing, muffling, or diminishing the report of a
portable firearm...” By that definition, a silencer is
only a silencer if it can attach to a firearm.
The Maxim 50 is built on the base of a Traditions™
Vortek Strikerfire Muzzleloader. Muzzleloaders are
not considered firearms by the BATFE, but are
instead antique firearms, a definition and difference
that is very distinct.
Because of this, a moderator that is permanently
affixed to a muzzleloader is not legally defined as a
silencer, since it does not attach to a firearm.

Downside:

Quote:
STATE RESTRICTIONS
Washington, Oregon, and Idaho do not permit the
use of this type of muzzleloader for hunting because
of the 209 Shotshell primer.

Ordered - just so I can say I got this sent directly to me without an FFL or background check. Gun hater's heads are exploding as I type this.

RocketScott thanks for the heads up.

Right on

I saw on another forum that it comes with a really nice case and accessories. For $450 I'm really tempted...

Not a muzzleloader hunter but don't you have to use iron sights in Wa? Wouldn't that make this unusable for hunting? Still a fun toy I bet.

I saw this deal and got kind of excited, thinking I might need this as a range toy. But . . . it just doesn't look like much of a range toy, so I'm going to pass. I'm sure it might be good for hunting, but the projectile limitations are just too $trict for range toy use.

I'm still wondering how the hell you get that suppressor clean enough so it doesn't rot away from black powder residue, too. Maybe just dip the whole thing in the bathtub?

Dude . . . did you actually watch that video?

Hint: It had absolutely nothing to do with my question. :ROFLMAO:

They (silencerco) want you to basically just our hot water from breech to muzzle and muzzle to breech till the water runs clean. Then just clean like you normally would. But they also then want you to fire a few rounds to ensure everything is dry. Pain in the ass. But since its not a controlled item I wonder if they sell spare barrels

I signed the indirect signature form and taped it to the door. It was left on my doorstep per instructions. No fuss. Came inside the limited edition hard case packed in inside of the product box and then the shipment box.

Yes, you pour warm/hot water down the barrel from muzzle to breach and vice-versa until the water comes out clean. Set it in the corner muzzle down to complete the drying process (or blow it out with compressed air). Run a couple of lube patches and put it away.

Personally won't be running any sabots so limited bullet selection is ok with me.

This thing is a beast though. Very front heavy. Grabbing powder, bullets, and primers tonight after work so I can play with it on Saturday.

Next on the list is a scope base and rings. You can run a scope in WA but it cannot be magnified or have a electronically powered reticle when used for hunting during muzzle loader season per my understanding.

I believe the regs say you can't use any sights that are magnified OR contain glass for muzzleloader seasons. Fiber optic sights are ok.
