One of the better deals I have seen available seeing as they frequently sell for $100 or more on GunBroker.

Gotta ask a question and this is coming from a person who doesn't know muck about AK stuff but is looking to get one....or a couple. What is so special about these bakelite mags that makes them so dang expensive ?

I hope someone who knows more chimes in because I can only offer my suspicions.

They are authentic Russian made magazines, in this case Molot I believe. Since this is the case, I suspect that they are banned from import at the moment, which will drive the prices up - I want to stress that I am not sure if these are included in the import ban. There are German made bakelites as well but I know literally nothing about them, except they appear to be cheaper.

AK74 mags in this capacity range seem to just cost this much. The brand new Arsenal RPK-74 45 round magazines are listed for $90 at GunMagWarehouse - granted they are out of stock at the moment.

I should mention that I find the bakelites of any capacity (in my limited experience) to be as well made as they are attractive. They fit well, feed well, are very sturdy and look great.

Put it all together and you have... Expensive magazines.

Edit: I should also mention that if you keep an eye on the marketplace section of AKFiles.com, you'll find some excellent deals every so often.
