Sportsman’s Warehouse Won’t Honor Their Ad

Fri Nov 15, 2019 3:12 pm

Negative experience, YMMV

Stopped in Sportsman’s just now in Federal Way. Wanted to purchase the rifle shown in the flyer. Was denied on the grounds that it’s a different rifle than the one on sale. (Bait and switch?) This was per Rachel the hunting manager. An associate also had the gall to tell me that the one in the pic isn’t threaded. So, don’t rush over for one and waste your gas. Supposedly they will call savage directly and see if they can work a deal for me to match that? I have no faith in such but alas that was what they offered.

I think maybe you were seeing something that isn't there, it doesn't say in the ad that the barrel is threaded and on their website the rifle with that stock number also says nothing about having a threaded barrel

Pretty sure this is the rifle he was looking at:

https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gea ... s/p/p42233

Listed online at @ $224.99. The ad says "after $25 mail in rebate"

I don't see the problem here. They should have sold you the rifle at $224.99 and you'd mail in for your $25 back from Savage. You're not going to walk out the door at $199.99, and in WA you still pay tax on the pre rebate price.

Unfortunately the pictured rifle does not match Sportmans' stock information. The rifle that matches their stock number when cross referenced with the published MPN, is just like the pink stock rifle. Not threaded, front sight, different bolt handle from the black stock rifle that is pictured in the add.

This is the rifle they are selling for that price. MPN: 13775
https://lipseys.com/itemdetail?itemno=SVRASCALBLK

This is the rifle you want. MPN: 13834
https://lipseys.com/itemdetail?itemno=SVRASCALBLKFVSR

For us low volume dealers, the price difference is only $20.

I called them back and told them to check 1291997 one more time , they did and told me 100% I was correct. I then asked if I bought online and shipped to store and she said yes. Cart shows the “right” rifle and sku but then says peep sights and a manuf number when checked externally. No matter what , this is a bungle and it is NOT the customers fault. I don’t even want the damn thing anymore.

Changing this to a big thumbs down

Seeing something that isn’t there??? Can you not see the thread protector?

Hmm. I shouldn’t have to be a super sleuth to simply buy what
Is advertised

The ad is for this rifle (description, price etc.): https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gea ... /p/1129745

The PHOTO used in the ad is of this rifle: https://www.sportsmans.com/shooting-gea ... /p/1291997 $154.99

Corporate screw up, not the fault of the store staff.

I see something, but no where in either description does it say it is threaded...….

You literally said see, not read...

Not being funny, but, if you're down near Puyallup, maybe go into that store...

Different managers, different levels of how they can help the customer, maybe...things like that...

Last time I was at Sportsman's FW, the guy helping me literally said come back in a few days when 'so-and-so' is working, and he can get you a better deal on this...

He then went in the back and wrote down the guy's schedule...

Just a thought...good luck!

I had a problem with a gift card some months ago, and went to corporate in Utah (via phone). Basically ended up with lots of promises and zero action.

Your experience with Sportsman's Warehouse is typical, I would imagine.

Been 9 days and never got a call back. Guess they wrote me off. I didn’t expect them to uphold their mistake or word but it would
Be nice if they had made an effort. Also, I got the gun manager to later admit via phone that the SKU listed on their ad is clearly the same sku on their website and google result. At no time did I get an apology. And on top of it all the biggest irk was the old guy telling me the one in the ad wasn’t threaded when it very clearly is. If you don’t know guns, get out from behind the counter. Customers aren’t always some mouth breathing goober you can bullshit

I’ve had 2 negative experiences at the Silverdale store in November/December of 2019. In their defense, the front end manager actually attempted to fix the first issue, was apologetic for the blunder (which was the fault of another employee) and even gave me a $30 off $150 or more coupon. They employee (gun counter guy) who fucked up the transaction didn’t even offer an apology or solution. Just disappeared on his break the moment a manager walked over. All this on top of having to hear his opinion on why I shouldn’t buy the gun I came in to purchase. Like I need the opinion of some dipshit who was still swimming in his dad’s nutsack when I was buying and shooting guns. Did go back at the end of December to use the coupon and had no real issues (other than the guy at the gun counter being an idiot and telling me they didn’t have a gun, that I was literally pointing at). I prefer the Kelso store. The Vancouver store is ok, but last time I was in there (October), I wanted to look at a rifle I fully intended to buy. The guy helping me accidentally dropped the rifle right on the crown of the muzzle. I asked if they had it at Kelso, then drove up there to purchase.
