OK, I can't really call this a "review" since I haven't actually shot the targets yet . . . but I'll share the story thus far.

At SHOT Show this past January, I saw the Action Target display for their new Legion targets, and I was impressed. They seemed lightweight, easy to set up, and versatile . . . so what the hell, I bought some. :thumbsup2:

I already have an Action Target dueling tree, which I bought used. I love it, but it's certainly heavy and awkward to transport. My hope is that the new one will be better . . . we'll see. I also have a few different flavors of hanging steel targets, but the Legion targets again seemed lightweight and easy to use.

I bought two setups, the dueling tree and the hanging target. For the hanging target I bought the base, single target bracket, and both 6" and 10" targets:

(And it's true, I did NOT clean the garage before taking pics!)

Well, do you notice how the hanging target in that last pic is a little crooked?

A little better view:

Turns out, the slot that the target drops into wasn't quite wide enough, and neither the 6" nor 10" targets will fit into it. I emailed Action Target and sent them pics; I offered to try to fix it myself if they'd give me advice on how to cut it, since it's AR500 and I ain't no machinist. They just emailed back, said sorry, and that they'd have a new one shipped out. It's a $33 item plus $15-ish for the flat rate box they used, so it cost them a few bucks and I appreciate the good service. thumbsup

So all is good now . . . I just need to be able to get out and shoot!

Oh, and I'm going to attempt to fix the bad bracket anyhow, so I can have two separate setups . . . since I can use the base from the dueling tree for hanging targets as well!

I was under the impression from their video that you didn't have to use 2x4's and could just reuse the stand and back piece for the legion setup?

You mean the dueling tree?

Yes, you can add a hanging target to the dueling tree (with or without the paddles); it requires a different bracket (hanger) than the one that I have which fits 2x4s, though.

I prefer to use the 2x4 method for what I do. I need the target to be up higher than the dueling tree . . . plus a 2x4 is a lot lighter to carry a hundred yards or so.

This is the one that I saw before. After looking at the site I see that some have a 2x4 and some have the "system"
I will probably be purchasing soon.

Jason, here are some pics of the base:

The same base is used for both 2x4s and the dueling tree. The dueling tree fits into the V-shape.

The base can be folded up for easy carrying.
