well now it blows for sure... jfc...
just got an email from "the headquarters" stating that drivers and riders are now "required" to wear a face mask
they also say that both riders and drivers will have to provide a photo of themselves, wearing said mask... wtf, how will you know if it's the "legit" rider or driver or not?
and, both riders and drivers will be able to give ratings based on PPE now... and, both can cancel the ride based on lack of PPE as well...

the world is going mad... :bonghit:

Hopefully most of that crap will blow over before I get to travel again. I miss going places!
Oh yeah, and I Uber EVERYWHERE when I'm out of town. I much prefer knowing the cost before I get in to sitting in traffic watching the meter tick over.

I'm going to try and go driving without one and see what the app says, maybe call the driver support line and see what they say about the "medical condition" exemption...

Pretty sure the problem is yours, and not theirs.

Lyft has decided to suspend its ridesharing operations in California beginning tonight at 11:59 pm PT.

"We don’t want to suspend operations," Lyft wrote in a blog post.

"We are going to keep up the fight for a benefits model that works for all drivers and our riders."

This decision follows a judge's ruling forcing both Uber and Lyft to reclassify their drivers as employees beginning Friday. In response, both Uber and Lyft previously said they would be forced to temporarily pause operations in California.

I bet WA will follow up with similar shit shortly...

When we're in SE Asia we used to always get cabs, but now it's Grab (Uber/Lyft clone after a buy out, now all Uber / Lyft drivers are Grab drivers), and it couldn't be more convenient and cheap. We just installed Grab on our phones and went wherever we wanted without having to get a ride from relatives or cabs. I don't know if it's still the case, but you could continue to use the Uber or Lyft apps, and a Grab driver would show up.

It's been several years since we've been, and will probably be a couple more before we go depending on the pandemic.

I have been considering doing UBER locally. With the Tesla, it's cheap "gas" and there are much lower maintenance costs.

Mental note.. All weather mats needed. How much did Uber pay you for that puke?

Get some slush mats that can handle the volume.
