While I have only used it a few times, and never had an issue, Uber has never made a profit. How a company stays in business like that makes zero sense to me.

Where did you get the app from? Uber.com I have disabled location on phone, maybe that's the issue.... Uber apps need to have access to your GPS location services so that it knows where to pick you up from, among other things. leadcounsel wrote: HOW do you download the bloody ap? There is no button, no link, nothing.
I can sign in, but there is nowhere to download it...
Maybe I'm misunderstanding the term 'ap' but is it not an ap on the phone like millions of other aps? You need to download the app from whatever app store your phone is based on. CQBgopher wrote: Bah Humbug.
I’ve found black car services to be a better experience. Those are available through the Uber app in many markets.

You need a good wifi connection, when I try to use at McDonald's wifi often times it won't work, so use your cellular data for a connection.
When you install uber or lyft, it might/probably will ask for permission to use your location services, answer YES since it also has to track you real time to ensure you get to your destination.
What type of phone, iPhone (might need to have a recent version of iOS) or Android? Newer versions will work faster.
You can't use it on a desktop since it needs a cellular connection, same for iPads and the like without a 3g/4g/5g connection. My assumption is that the app assumes you will take your phone with you and will immediately give feedback and/or a tip upon exit.
Driver's don't make that much, it would make someone's day to get a tip.

Easy app. Same with Lyft. Very intuitive. I’m not saying it is the user but....

The guys forced me out of my old ways at SHOT 2019 and I downloaded Lyft.
Best. Thing. Ever.
No more taxis taking the long way around in Vegas since the rides are flat rate. Drivers are courteous and go out of their way to get good feedback. Only way to travel when you’re out of town or local wanting to go out and drink.

Is the Uber app open for use? I’d heard it was closed currently.

Tried using it once. First driver canceled on me at the last minute. They charged me for it anyway. Tried to argue with them, they didn't care. Wound up costing double what a taxi would have and they are highway robbery. Never again.

I use Lyft. I have used it locally at least a dozen times as well as on Maui and in DC once. No complaints at all. Enable your GPS, book your ride and get on with your life.
