Well Everyone- thanks for your suggestions.
I went and put a few couple hundred rounds through it yesterday.
Worked like a charm. Now I just need to get used to this new gun and the 9lb trigger pull!!

Thanks All!
-------------------------------------
Hi Everyone.
Just purchased my 1st Gun Sig Sauer P290 with Laser. Here are some thoughts.

- Great Price
- Great size, fits my hand perfect
- Love the 8 rd extended clip
- Night sights

Went with my hubby and a friend right after I purchased to take it for a run. Now, I didn't buy expensive ammo, that could be the prob.
Stepped up to unload the clip and immediatley had an issue, first rd fired and it wouldn't eject. Cleared everything, pulled trigger again and had the same issue. My friend then gave it a shot. Fired 1, worked fine. Fired again and then had the same issue I was having.
Cleared everything out, added some lube and then tried it again, seemed to work a little better. But, it still felt like there was an issue with the gun.
Now, I know the trigger pull is a big one on this, roughly 9lbs.

I have looked around on Youtube and other sites to try and see if anyone else has had any fails with their 290. I thought I would ask all of you.
I have seen a few issues with the hammer.

I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks,
Gun By My Side

It sounds like you took it shooting without cleaning it first . . . is that true?

If so, I would clean and lube the gun, and then take it back out. Go ahead and use cheap ammo, it should be fine.

Often a new gun will have "factory grease" or some other kind of goop in it, and it won't function properly. Hopefully it's that simple, and it just needs some proper maintenance to make it run smoothly!

When you say "Did not eject", Did the shell just stay in the chamber?

I had issues with a gun having an out of spec chamber and/or a bad extractor. I was told the chamber was suspect causing the rounds to stick, and then the extractor was replaced because the gunsmith didnt like the way it looked. Once these items were repaired, the gun ran everything flawless afterwards. I'd do like MP says and clean off all the manufacturing gunk and see if that improves, if not you may want to have the barrel and extractor looked at.

+1

that and make sure it was not made by Microsoft. if it was then you have to unload, walk back out the door to your car, load the car, then unload your car, go back into the range reload and try again. Becareful of the target also, if it is made by microsoft you may have to do the same or you'll get 404 error target not found....

+1 I just didnt want to say it and come off sounding like I was criticizing how she was shooting, but that was my first thought.

So you are right, I did not clean it.
I remember specifically asking my friend should I do so beforehand, his response was "NAH" we will add some lube to it when we get there.

So I have certainly cleaned it and plan on going back again this weekend to go for round 2.
As for "Limp Wristing" I have never heard of this before.
I have never had problems shooting several other guns, 1911 and revolver styles.
I always shoot with a two hand grip and have actually changed my grip slightly on this gun.
I will certainly read more about it and see if that might be the issue.
Maybe I will post an update after my next test.

Thanks All

For limp-wristing, it's good to let other people try shooting the gun to see if they have the same problem; you did that by letting your friend shoot it, so that's good.

I'd clean and lube it, then get back out there. Make sure you hold it in a FIRM grip to eliminate the possibility of limp-wristing. Different guns have different susceptibility to limp-wristing, so the fact that you've shot other pistols successfully doesn't mean that you won't have that problem with the P290.
