MAD Custom Coatings

Big +1 to MAD Custom Coatings in Poulsbo. On August 10th, I sent them a bunch of small lower & upper parts for my wife's AR to be cerakoted in Magpul FDE. They quoted a fair price and estimated that it would be a 4-week turnaround. I called on August 25th to confirm the timeline, and David told me they would likely be done before September 10th. Then, I received an emailed PayPal invoice from them on August 27th, which I promptly paid. I had the parts in my mailbox on August 28th. :thumbsup2:

All the parts were there, and they all looked flawless. The color was a perfect match to my Magpul parts. I was a little concerned about the roll pin holes getting plugged with the cerakote, but it was a non-issue. The only issue I had was the safe/fire switch having too large a diameter to fit into the lower holes. I just used the tip of a sharp knife to remove a thin layer of coating from the areas that contacted the frame - problem solved. The ejection port cover and takedown pins were also a bit tight, but I didn't have to remove any material. I've installed and function-checked all the parts, and they work perfectly.

The whole process was very smooth from start to finish, and I'm pleased with the quality of the coating. I'd gladly use these guys again for future cerakote projects.

Let me double the praise for David and Monti at MAD. I know these guys well, and they really do a fantastic job. But more than that, they are stand up folk, and would go the extra mile for you. If you are thinking about Cerakoting (or, something extra) for a whole gun or just some parts, give them a shout. By the way, they have some really interesting custom patterns.

I'd like to chime in and say that they do awesome work. Had some stuff coated and was happy with the overall process. Smooth communication and shipping/payment/instructions made it a breeze. They do some really unique patterns. Plus, they're local too!
