Post subject:  Omega Firearms

So I know its not local, and most people aren't running out on a regular basis to drop $1700 on an MP5 clone but I thought Id share my experience with Omega just in case anyone was considering a purchase. First off I have heard the horror stories about dealing with the Bailey family and their various companies they have opened and closed over the years. Normally 5min worth of research on these guys would have made me look elsewhere. In this case though Atlantic Firearms has given them legitimacy as a company because of their promotion of the line of Omega guns as being somewhat of a combined effort between Atlantic and HKparts.net. I figured that Atlantic wouldn't put their rep on the line for substandard weapons.

When I went to order an Omega MP5 from Atlantic they had just ran out and an email back and fourth ended with them letting me know they couldn't give me an idea of when the next shipment would be in. It was at that point I emailed Omega directly. Essentially I let them know Atlantic was out and asked if I could order direct and obtain one before I would be able to through Atlantic. Much to my surprise the owner of the company Wade Bailey emailed me back and said it would be no problem, gave me a price and said if interested he could have their office manager whip up an invoice and start the process of taking payment, FFL verification and so on. Within 48 hours I had paid in full, sent in my preferred FFL information and assumed my tracking number would be emailed any time. After a week I sent in an email asking about tracking and thats where the story gets fun. What I was told was that all the parts were in, it was in the process of being manufactured and would take 3-4 weeks to complete. Well I am a patient man and figured even though I was led to believe it was in stock, at least it was getting started and Id have it being shipped in a month.

Week 4 came, actually 4 weeks to the day and I feverishly checked my email multiple times during the day all week and found nothing in my inbox. Week 5 came and went. At the end of week 5 I on their Instagram page they posted a picture of a batch of said gun and a caption saying "ready to ship". Man was I excited. I emailed at that point and asked how it was coming along. Week 6 to the day I got an email back from the office manager apologizing for the delay. She then told me that their "paint machine had a breakdown" and that my weapon was completed, the paint machine just got fixed and my order was scheduled for paint that week. I thanked her for the update and let her know I understood the delay and appreciated the update and would keep an eye out for my tracking number.

As I sat waiting I did some rough math. 3-4 weeks to build a batch of guns. Thats bending and welding a flat, pressing on the barrel, doing the final build and making sure everything is lined up, strip it, sand blast it, paint it, reassemble, test fire, clean, package and ship. My guess was a week of that 3-4 was the paint, final assembly and testing. Still it didn't feel right because at the same time mine should have been done they are posting pictures of a batch being done and ready to ship...fully painted. So in the interest of patience of benefit of doubt I again waited. I gave them two more weeks worth of time before emailing them again. At this point we are talking 8 weeks after they told me it would be 3-4 and I now see Atlantic is again fully stocked. So the batch they posted pictures of online went to Atlantic while mine was nowhere to be seen. No response. 9 week mark comes and I finally message their Facebook page and ask if something had happened that had maybe pushed the delivery date further back. Their office manager finally messaged me back and said that the owner Wade was busy on another project but once he was finished she would try and get information on when it would be completed. I thanked her and waited. After 3 days of not hearing back I realize the owner is too busy working on something other than the pistol I had paid in full for 9 weeks earlier and decide to email and ask for a refund.

A week after emailing and explaining that I understand as a small manufacturer sometimes things come up that push deadlines back but that Atlantic was now stocked and I would like to refund and just order through them....still nothing. No email, no FB message, no call. My only recourse was to call my bank and they were more than happy to file a dispute and get my money back. This company provides the worst customer service I have ever encountered. I gave them every chance to make things right or even just be honest in when my gun would be finished and they just had no interest in completing a job they had been paid in full to do. Hell as soon as I asked about refunding they went totally silent. Long story short, don't buy an Omega. Even if you pick one up from Atlantic Firearms you are supporting a company who's owner treats customers like crap and down the line if you need warranty work done you may go through the same exact frustration I did.
