I've got a life hack for ya that might just change the way you see shooting semi auto out in Montana. It's a little hard to see in the pics, but try it out. Take a baseball cap (mine is an old SGN hat) and hook the head size adjustment strap around your scope base. Hang the hat over your ejection port so the ejected brass hits inside the hat and falls down on the ground. It doesn't melt like a brass collector. Never interferes with the ejection. And it collects the brass in a neat little pile on the ground right next to your rifle.
It won't cure "trigger happy," but it will save you from having to pick your brass out of the prairie dog shit 10-15ft away.
I also carry a lightweight foam mat rolled up on my pack and shoot prone position from the top of a prairie dog mound. (I recommend clearing the dog hole first to avoid unfortunate encounters with rattlers) I usually fire a round from my PMR-30 down the hole before setting up then cover the hole with my pack to make sure no unwanted guests come out of the hole while I'm shooting there.
