I know, I know. NC Star. They suck and all that. Well, yes their so called optics do suck, but their sight pusher tool works nicely. Got this bad boy at Amazon. Under $50. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01 ... UTF8&psc=1Positives: It works so slick on Glock slides, you may want to change all your sights. Really easy to line up and glide right out. Even sights that were froze in with some rust on a police turn in G22 slide. The thing is decently heavy, and quite easy to use. Comes with a nice compact case for storage or transport, or holes for mounting if you like. Padded jaws and warnings about not marring your slide. Middle: Centering a rear slide perfectly takes patience. Most depth gauges on the back of calipers are kind of lousy for the task. Negatives: NONE for me, but the broken jaw things on Amazon are a bit scary. Maybe someone had a stuck sight and used a breaker bar. I would have tried some liquid penetrant first. For the price and if you have several rear sights you need to push out and replace, I think this tool is the bomb.

I am open to ideas to get a rear sight perfectly centered on a slide. You Tube seems to yield the range of close enough (no!) to complete jackassery.
I think if I had a surface plate, a clamping block and height gauge I could clamp and reference along opposite (left say) slide side to edge (right) of sight - then flip sides. Caliper depth gauge nearly useless, same with mic depth gauge. What do gunsmiths do?

I guess the beauty is I can bring the tool to the range!! (Because unless I take notes, if I wait until I get home, I never remember which way each gun needs to go! )

. You're right, the calipers do not work great. I've changed out the sights on most all my pistols and always run into the same problem.
Nowadays I just eyeball the sight to center of the slide then get it to the range and benchrest the pistol to ensure continuity of sight picture to shot placement. I've found that I'm pretty damn good at getting it right by eyeballing it but if I do need to make adjustments I have the sight adjuster with me and adjust as needed. Shoot, adjust and repeat until you got it right where you want it.
EDIT: Damn Steve....you're quick! Beat me to it.

I took a chance on one of these sight pushers awhile back. They where backordered and I forgot all about it until it showed up. I have used it a lot on very stubborn sights with great results.

Sent from my SM-T820 using Tapatalk Great price. Not sure why saving $15 would be piss in anyone's Cheerios. How much is shipping? (I don't want to join)

They are charging tax, on the shipping too. At the Amazon link, if you click on "one size" in the drop down, the price is $44.xx and there is a 5% off offer. It's just about a push if you have Prime. If there's anything else to order from Dvor it'll work out better since the $9.99 is flat rate shipping. Sent from my SM-T820 using Tapatalk

Get some batteries, pop the bugger in, dial the site in perfectly. Done. Extra bonus you can see where your elevation is. Need a 9mm laser cartridge!

I bought this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01 ... UTF8&psc=1Works great. Easily installed some Meprolight Night sights on my G43. Had to use a wrench to get em on but could easily tell it was of better quality over the NCStar. I originally had the NCStar/Vism one and it arrived broken. Promptly returned it and bought a different one (linked above) later on.
