I’ve got this adjusting bolt off the boat I sail on. It’s for moving the base of the mast fore and aft. When I took it apart the threads got all buggered up.

I need someone to get it apart and possibly replace the ring at the end with a new one. Or come up with a better way to do it.

The bronze rings are thrust washers.

Stainless steel loves to gal up on itself. You will likely need both. If you manage to get the nut off and clean up the threads it will likely happens again. With I had the time to make you a ne one. Do you know what type of stainless it is?

I have a bunch of 1" 303 SS bar if you find someone to do the work and you need some material.

FP-10 does very well to keep SS from galling.

Kroil that bolt and thread the get them loosened and chase those threads.

As a rule, like metals will wear and gall on themselves. We are a ways apart, but if I can get it from you, I can straighten out that whole mess.

When the parts are installed on the boat they don’t come apart. There’s a bronze sleeve that the threads engage.

I think what ruined the threads was the cross drilling for the retaining pin.
