My battery light started flickering at idle today on my F-250, but only intermittently. It didn't flicker at all on my way home, and I don't see any changes to the charge level on the battery gauge in the truck, even when I turn on all my lights. The batteries are a couple of Die Hards that are 6 years old, so I know they're close to their useful life, but until recently I drove my truck maybe once a week so they aren't "that" old. I replaced the alternator a while ago, not sure how long, maybe also about six years or so?

I've got them on charge right now on my smart charger, which I'll let run over night. They were at 80% charge according to the charger when I first plugged it in, so maybe an overnight charge will bring them back up to snuff. I think that my relatively short commute isn't enough to overcome the starting load with the glow plugs and it needs to be run longer for the alternator to catch up.

Assuming that I need new batteries, are any of you guys resellers for Interstate or whoever? I know most all batteries are made by only a couple of companies, and I'd rather pay one of you guys than some random place for batteries.

double check the wires on the back of the alternator. flickering light is most likely something loose somewhere

Even just age will kill them and letting a lead acid battery drop too low will kill it.
But also check all of the connections and check your belts and pulleys. Just to be sure.

Haven't bought a battery in a while but Costco seemed to be the best value when I bought them for my van (it has two and one is a funky size)
