Japanese Engine replacement specialist

Sun Jul 14, 2019 9:42 am

I have a nice mid 90s Japanese car I like but might need a new engine due to significant oil consumption (1 qt per 100 miles). Already replaced PCV valve and hose, checked oil lines. Is there a place that can swap out an old engine and replace with a good rebuilt?

I forget the name, but there's places that sell JDM engines. I guess in Japan they have to be replaced at 20,000 miles, so they bring the used ones here. Used to buy them all the time for Geo Metro's.

Not exactly, but kinda. Once a car fails an emissions test the engine must be replaced. Pretty fuckin dumb law as it produces way more carbon emissions to build a new engine then any repaired engine would produce. Doesn’t matter the miles either, 20k or 100k. They do get shipped through various outlets and are usually in excellent shape. I don’t imagine it would be easy to find one from the 90s anymore.

I used Quality Foreign Auto in Mill Creek to replace the engine in my ‘86 Supra when I blew the head off.
They had a place to get good 30k motors, I think in Kent. Totally satisfied with the work and service.
They replaced everything that wears out, pumps, belts, hoses, clutch, etc.
And they know alot about performance upgrades if you’re interested.
Car still running strong at 130k on new motor
