Have Dell G3 laptop and when you plug in the power supply the light next to the power input goes on, then goes out.
Computer will not boot

Need to see about getting this fixed.

Buy a new PS. Probably find one on Ebay for $10.
Check it with a voltmeter.
Could also be a battery, about $30.
Check them both for voltage.
I'd try that first before paying someone to look at it.
Cost a lot more than that if it needs a new board.

Yep you can usually find power supplies for a very reasonable price online. Or find someone with a similar laptop and try theirs.

They dont fail often, but I suppose anything is possible. It should turn on with just the power supply even if the battery is bad unless it is shorting out or something. Since the light turns on I would be more suspicious of the b as battery than the power supply. Is it removeable? Some of the newer laptops like mine aren't. Most older ones are and again you can buy one online for cheap to see if that's that problem. I wouldn't dump too much money into an old laptop, I'd start thinking about a replacement if it were me.

I actually fixed the issue!
unplug power supply
hold power button for 30 seconds
then plug back into power supply.

WORKED.

annoying it took nearly an hour of googling to find this solution, but cheaper than the options.
