Hey fellas.

I'm in need of someone that can weld something for me. I think it should be pretty simple. My Camp Chef stove has a leg support that has broken free. See the picture below. Is there anyone near Seatac that could fix this for me? I can either pay you $ or trade some ammo or mags or something. Thanks guys.

I can also prep the area ahead of time - grind off paint on the area and remaining weld if needed.

edit: picture added (duh) and additional details.

You aint gonna like this but those tube frames frames are crap and hard to weld to with out burning holes through because the tubes are so thin. If you really use that Camp Chef you would be be better off having a member weld you up a heavier gauge frame......that is unless you like having it loaded with sausages or steaks and having another spot give way.

Can do.

But I'm nowhere near you. Furthest north I go is Dupont in my normal routine. Not sure it would be worth the drive for you.

Hit up your local muffler shop and say you have a small CASH spot weld job.

Thin metal can be wended with ease. Especially with that rod being thicker. Keep the heat on the rod and get IN n OUT quick on the thin tube.

How about just bracing all four corners with aluminum angle pieces to the cooktop (burner body) & legs and use either sheet metal screws or pop rivets?

A couple friends on fb suggested jb weld. It has a tensile strength of 5020psi. So if the small piece I'm connecting is only say 1/4" just to make the calculation easier, then I'd be looking at about 313lbs of force that joint could withstand? Am I doing this right? There are 16 square 1/4 inches in 1 sq. in? So 5020/16=313.75?

I'm not sure that's strong enough to handle the weight of the stove and grill (about 85lbs) and the torque applied when cleaning the grill, moving it around, etc.

That's a good idea. Thanks!
