The marking is just on one side, but deep enough it wouldn't look right to only do the one side, so it would likely be too much to remove in total. I'm going to try to fill with Lab Metal as a buddy happens to have some on hand. I'm not a welder, never been good at it, and I wouldn't want to risk warping or damaging any heat treatment.
