Well, it's time to lock them out of the orchard - need a fence big enough to keep elk out. Would prefer someone that has worked with game warden to meet or exceed requirements of mitigation to ease obtaining depredation permit (not all fencing is good enough nor even solely enough).

Talk to Donald, that MOFO knows walls & fences.... Unless you're willing to pay some high-dollar contractor's your build will not keep the elk out of your Orchard. I've helped people that tried to do the same thing and failed. If an elk erd wants to go somewhere, they are going to go through virtually any fence. Good luck with your project brother.

You can do it yourself if you have an auger for your tractor and can find a less expensive source for poles. You can put the poles in vertical or angled and I would go with electric fence. How many fence chargers depends on how many acres you are fencing with how many feet of wire. If you do not go electric they will use it as a scratcher till they push it down. Do a google search for deer and Elk fence and you will come up with suppliers. Your fence needs to be at least 15 feet tall so you are going to be needing hop poles. Build it once and it should be good for 40 years.

Do a WAGUNS Raffle for the tag when you get it! Joking aside that will be tough to keep them out. Large as they are they can get over some tall things when the mood suits them. I wish you luck!

Wire it directly to your 440 volt main for power - anything less is entertainment - they think it tickles them. Neighbors won't hear gunshots either. You better invest in a walk in cooler for processing all the carcasses though.......................WaGuns bar b q !
