Federal has a new brand of 22LR targeted for personal defense, featuring a 29gr nickel plated bullet traveling at 1,070 fps out of a 2" barrel. https://www.guns.com/news/2021/04/15/ne ... al-defenseI personally don't think this is enough for a self defense round, am I missing something?

I wouldn't want to get shot with one, but I wouldn't trust my life to one, either.

Probably be plenty for SD, but can it blow up the death star?

I may not use this as my first choice of caliber as a primary cc weapon but it would make my back up cc in the ankle holster a lot lighter.

22 works great for taking down world record Grizzly bear, why not SD?

I'd rather have a 22 than a knife, and in the very small guns it may make the recoil manageable and allow for more rounds.
Of course I'd rather have a 9mm but if the small easily carried size means it's the difference between having a gun and not having one, I'd rather have it.

I'd carry one as a secondary.
My concern wouldn't be lethality. I'm concerned about reliability. I want the round to cook off when struck, and it'd be just my luck to get the round that doesn't.

You should see how many 22lr bullets I find on the ground at the pit that were struck but no boom. Tons of Remington Thunderbolts (total crap IMHO) and a lot of Federal. It is very hard for me to trust any 22lr for SD so I’ll continue with my XDM40.

I just don't feel that the rounds fire off as reliably as center fire ammo.

Reliability is my first concern. A well placed shot is paramount, but not knowing reliable is a huge trade off

Is my self defense weapon and American 180? If so, I'm in.
