I had a Marlin 1898 Widowmaker takedown riot shotgun I bought at a gun show for $100, was almost like new.
Many years ago Marlin announced they were not safe to fire.
Lot like the Winchester version, except the bolt goes in from the back instead of the front.
If the locking lug fails, bolt will go through your eye socket and out the back of your head at about 250 mph, hence the name.
But was a nice looking wall hanger.
Replaced it as the fireplace hanger with a H&R 1873 45-70 Officers Model Trapdoor.
It's a fun shooter, can ring a 4" steel gong up a steep hill at 140 yards all day long (light loads only).
