As an unlicensed person shipping a firearm with UPS you’re required to declare it and ship it from a UPS hub.

Or you could choose not to follow the process and potentially get a visit from the ATF.

Here we have an example of what happens when you don’t follow the process. A gun gets left on the porch, no signature required.

I don’t think that notifying UPS affects whether it gets left on the porch ... does it?

As far as I know, that is entirely driven by the request to have a signature upon delivery.

Does that meet the new safe storage requirements?

Happens alot to home based FFL's. I know for a fact that Fedex had done it to an FFL that used to frequent this forum more than once. And the firearms were coming from Distributors, not non FFL holders.

Yes, it does.

Quote:
The shipper must use Delivery Confirmation Adult Signature Required service for each package containing a firearm, including a handgun or a firearm suppressor, and affix a UPS label requesting an adult signature upon delivery.

https://www.ups.com/us/en/help-center/packaging-and-supplies/special-care-shipments/firearms.page

Also, had the seller declared it, it would have shipped from a hub. This items was shipped from a UPS Store.

Depending on the shipper and method used, a signature may not be required from FFL to FFL. There's no law requiring it so it's up the carrier to set and enforce the policy.

I've had a UPS driver hand my under 18 kids a package that said 'adult signature required'.
But it was around Christmas and they use a lot of temps then.

I've noticed a big difference in the delivery behavior between WA, and OK. In Wa they don't give a rats ass, and just toss it on the porch. Knock, eh maybe. Since I'v been in OK I've had a lot of stuff ordered, and they either leave a note saying they will try again or take it to the office.

I had a ton (not literally) of black powder just left on my porch, even though it said adult signature required. I was home so I know they didn't even ring the doorbell.
