I'm thinking I may get a G34 MOS, or maybe a G34 with a standard slide that I'd send to get milled out for a red dot. Intended use of the pistol is home defense. I've got a G17L that fits the bill very nicely with Factory night sights and the TLR-1 WML. I just want something for the other level of the house. I prefer the long slides for this type of purpose over my G19 sized slide.

Another options is to put the money I'd use for a G34 into my CZ scorpion pistol, but I'm not exactly sure where I'd stash it on the level of the house I'm looking at. A small speedvault or something for the G34 seems like it might be easier, but I do have other options that could flex into that roll.

You live in a mansion or something? Skip the red dot, get some night fision or xs big dots and spend the remainder on training, ammo or accessories.

A good light and iron sights on a G34 would probably meet all your needs, except maybe the coolness factor of a red dot

I have owned G34/G35 as well as multiple other Glock form factors. Every pistol I own has a red dot except one (because it is on order and hasn't arrived yet but should be here in a week).

Once you have practiced with a red dot sight, you will probably never go back. I guess each person has their own opinion, but I will NEVER go back to iron sights unless an employer mandates it.

If you were in my area I would let you shoot mine.

For milling, MKP or JaegerWerks both do great work. Factory MOS models are also good. ZEV is probably the most respected. I have owned all three, and currently own ZEV and JW slides. Below is a picture of a few of the guns I shoot regularly.
I shoot with Vortex Venom, Trijicon RMR and Holosun optics. Feel free to send me any questions if you want.
