I'm looking to upgrade the barrel on my Ruger 10/22. I'm wanting to upgrade to a .920 bull barrel. The main purpose for this rifle is just target shooting and plinking around at the range. But I'm still wanting to put together some tight groups. I'd like to stay 20" inches or below on the barrel length. Any recommendations guys? I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

I've been researching the same question. The consensus on rimfire central seems to be Green Mountain is the best bang for your buck but the higher end builds seem to prefer Kidd. I'm going to get a Green Mountain for my speed steel/ PC9 look a like build.

Not sure if he still makes them but got mine from a guy on rimfirecentral. Goes by the user name gophishhh and lives down in oregon. He takes a standard 10/22 barrel turns it down, fits an aluminum collar over it, and re-cuts the chamber. He can also do barrel fluting and threading. Think mine ended up being 6 ounces lighter then the standard barrel and much more accurate.
Targets are at 25yds. Ignore center group, it was from my buddies 10/22.

Yeah, I talked to that guy. His name is Brad. I got all his info from watching that build on Fire Mountain Outdoors. He seems like he knows what he's doing and what he's talking about. Only negative I could see was that he doesn't offer a blued or any black models of his barrels. Price seemed reasonable too.

+1 for KIDD barrels.

My 16" KIDD is sub-moa @ 100yds with Wolf Match Extra.

Has anybody had any experience with "Green Mountain" barrels?

I completed my 10/22 build with a Feddersen Barrel. Went with their 18” fluted bull barrel and opted for the threaded muzzle.

I have one on my oldest 10/22 & love it. The first one they shipped me had a rusted thumb(?) print right at the muzzle (just flash rust, but still). I sent them a picture of it, and they told me to keep it, and they'd send a replacement for it. I traded the rusted one for a Parkerizing job on the replacement and been happy with it ever since. I think it only cost about $100, but that was several years ago.
