Heading down to Columbia County to renew my CPL on August 31st. I can take others who want to go. Opens at 10.

Let me know if you want to join me. I’m leaving Duvall around 7:30.

Yes. It’s first come first served.
I went a few weeks ago and got there right on time as they opened and the line was Huge.

Make sure you have everything you need. Letters and copies of courses and cash. Make photo copies of everything - Drivers License and CPL so you can just simply hand it all in.

They will give you an envelope to address to yourself so they can mail it to you.

Typically new applications are on the far right against the wall. It’s a long wait so plan on being there a bit.

The renewals went pretty fast. Took renewal, paid and took picture. Done.

Would “because it’s my God given right” be a valid enough reason for that sheriff to grant a permit or does my life actually have to be in peril? I am not really a good writer and I thought 5 paragraph essays only work with high school.

:thumbsup2:

what I wrote..
DATE
Sheriff Dickerson: I routinely travel throughout Oregon for both business and personal reasons. I respectfully request your office allow me to apply for (and subsequently issue) an Oregon Concealed Handgun License for the purpose of personal defense.

Edit: ^^^^^what he said^^^^

More of a "I travel into and through your county for business and pleasure. (You can also add something about wanting to continue exercising your natural right to defense if you want)."

Someone here has a stock letter that worked, mine's on a harddrive somewhere.

^ Agree with these guys. Just a general reason like that. You need to give them a valid reason, but they WANT to approve it . . . these are gun-friendly sheriffs, not asshole CLEOs from California.

If anyone is curious, Pixley provided the following as part of his official statement in the voters' pamphlet:

Quote:
<snip>
I am committed to defending and upholding the liberties afforded by the U.S. Constitution.

Your 2nd Amendment rights will be safeguarded with me.

The Oregon Firearms Federation supports him and in one article they say he has gone on record as supporting the Second Amendment Preservation Ordinance that was introduced last year. Pixley was also selected by Sheriff Dickerson, who retired, to act as the interim sheriff until the election.

Sorry folks. I won’t be able to ride share as I’m turning it into a vacation weekend.
