I'm building my next AR - a 16" 5.56 side-charger - that I hope to one day use for 3-gun competitions (I've never done it before, but it looks like fun). I know exactly which parts I want to use for every aspect of the build except the muzzle device. On my other ARs, I have everything from standard A2 birdcage flash hiders to Lantac Dragon brakes and Aero/VG6 Epsilon brakes w/ the CAGE device. I don't find the VG6 setup to be particularly good at controlling muzzle rise. The Lantac Dragon is excellent at keeping the muzzle down, but the blast/concussion is obnoxious. I realize all brakes have some element of this problem, but the Lantac seems especially bad. I'm not so worried about muzzle flash as I am muzzle rise; I want to be able to effectively put fast follow-up shots on target.
What are some suggestions you guys have?

I've got a couple with the yhm phantom. I like that one quite a lot. I'll have to look at the others, I know there's another I like a lot but I can't remember which one.

This one circled in red. Gas goes out the front, straight out. No openings on top, bottom or sides. Keeps the muzzle from rising. Attachment: AR15-Muzzle-Brakes.jpg

The first and third to the right of the red circle are Precision Armament brakes. Nice brakes.

Putting a cage on a vg6 pisses me off so much.
Vg6 (epsilon) is life on a 5.56. Putting a cage on it reverses its effects to make your neighbors happy when you dont have time to swap for an a2.
Vg6 is literally $35 on sale and is the bombest . Everyone jumping on that ship now.

I shoot my 16" AR308 with a Strike Industries Jcompv2 and the guy 3 benches down feels it in his teeth. I deal with it when other people use brakes. This is the way.

Lift some weights and hold on more tightly to your weapon. Just kidding, I'm with PMC on this one. Shooting guns makes noise. Your neighbor at the range should understand this.

It's not a safe-space, it's a fucking gun range.

I've installed the venom viper on most of my ARs. Can't compare it to anything other than the standard birdcage, but I'd be willing to bet it's the best bang for the buck at ~$12 after coupons. https://venom-defense.com/ar-15-viper-c ... pq-coated/
