Nay, overpriced for a newfangled old design gun, the quality is sure to be a dissuading factor.
If I wanted a “Python” I’d pony up and buy a “Real Colt Python”....

I agree.
$1,499 is a lot for a mass produced gun.
Much of the appeal of the real Python was it was a hand fitted masterpiece.
Colt said awhile back they can't make the real Python anymore even as a handmade custom gun.
Cost too much to make and most of the master gunsmiths that made them are dead or retired.

Like my 1951 pre-27 S&W.
S&W still makes a gun called a Model 27 but it is nowhere near the same.

I was wondering what that was going to cost.
Hard pass.

Too much money.

IMHO, the originals are very sexy but not that great of a gun. Hard to work on, hard to keep in time, miserable trigger and not spectacular in any way.

Damn, I STILL want one.

All reports indicate they fixed the trigger stacking in DA. Re-did the action which resulted in fewer parts. To all the purists, Colt really couldn't care less what you think about CNC and MIM. They're not going to make handcrafted Pythons for $4000 that 10 people a year will buy.

Every one they've made is sold out with waiting lists. So they're doing something right. Is it an OFWG gun? Yeah, sure, pretty much. Not many 20 somethings are lining up to get one.

I'm probably going to get one, but I'm a revolver fan. If you're not, of course you're not getting one. I'm hoping for a blued 6" but if it's not going to be real bluing I'll just get an SS one.

I appreciate the fact they don’t have lawyer locks on this classic pistol.

Not much of a wheelgun guy but I've always wanted to own a Colt Python but the market price for the originals are way too expensive. The 2020 version is on my shortlist.

You'll be waiting until the end of time.

I'd buy a new Porsche 911 if they were $20k but that's not going to happen either.
