just curious if anyone has ever laid eyes on a .223 / 12 gauge over under or hell a SxS even. my father had one when i was growing up and he swore it was the best most unique and useful gun he ever owned. my mom has no idea what he did with it before he was killed and i was thinking i'd like to get one if available somewhere for nostalgia.

It was probably a Savage Model 24F, I have a model 24 in 22, mag 20 gauge, its neat as hell.

I have one of those Savages in 223/12. The idea is pretty handy. They've gotten stupid expensive as of late, but I guess everything has.

When I was in Lucerne Switzerland there was a cool little gun shop that had quite a selection of "drillings" 12 and 16 gauge with 7x57 or such chamberings.

Those price tags were astronomical.

A little closer to home

I have been looking for that same combo for quite a few years now. They exist, just doesn't seem to be very common. To me, definitely the best caliber combination.

thanks for the info everyone. i had no idea where to even begin my search for one but the 20 year anniversary of my dad's murder just passed and that memory came back strong so i thought i'd poke around a bit. not surprising they have gotten expensive but if i can find one i'll probably snag it. i also agree that it would be the best caliber combo. stokes, if ya ever wanna sell i'd pay market rate for it. ;-)

Damn. Thats spendy. Not that I've seen many, but 1500 seems steep with synthetic stocks. If it had some nice wood I could see springing that much for it.

They’re all pretty overpriced IMO. There was a later model Savage 389 in 308/12 gauge. I can see that being even more useful for legally taking larger game. Never seen one for sale though.

I picked up a Triple Deuce Rem (.222) with 20 Gauge under in a Savage 24 ,unfired, 1967 year for $600 last year.

The .222 is damn accurate at 100 yards with a red dot.
