Help ID'ing shotgun barrel Maverick/Mossberg

Wed Feb 02, 2022 4:24 pm

Wasn't sure which sub-forum to post this in, figured general discussion would probably work.

This shotgun barrel was in the collection I recently got. There was a Mossberg 500 in the collection at one time, but not in my possession.

From what I've found online, it appears to possibly be a Maverick barrel. (That is where to PO BOX stamped on it goes to) Possibly interchangeable with a Mossberg 500?

Just wondering HOW to describe it when/if I sell it?

Appreciate any input.

I think I have the same barrel, it's from a Mossberg 500 combo that Big 5 (used to?) sell. Fixed choke, right?

The stamp on it says "MODIFIED CHOKE"

Let me ask differently. It doesn't have removable choke tubes, correct?

Thanks for the link. Correct, NO removable choke tubes. I'm NOT a shotgun guy :ROFLMAO:

Pretty sure that's exactly the same one I have then. Mossberg 500, big 5 model, came with two barrels.

+1 that looks exactly like the combo package mossberg I had from big 5. Those shotguns were stamped as a mossberg 500 but had a lot more in common with the mavericks in terms of how they were built. I believe the barrels are interchangeable between the two (don’t quote me on that).

Post a pic of the mossberg shotty if you can. The foregrip style should be a dead giveaway as to whether it’s the combo package shotgun.

That's the problem, I don't have the shotgun, just a spare barrel. Trying to determine what exactly it is, which I think you guys have done.

Maybe I should PIF it to someone who can use it.

I have the same Big 5 Combo. I don't think the 28" barrel has ever been on the shotgun for more than a couple of hours total. I keep the 18" barrel on it. and the spare in a drawer in my dresser.

Gotcha. Thanks. SO maybe if I PIF it someone can use it, or put it in their dresser drawer...
