Hey all,

Looking for a red dot for the new shadow systems MR920. Been reading up a ton on optics and trying to find something reliable that doesn’t break the bank. Was looking into swamp Fox but saw mixed reviews and would rather spend a few extra bucks. Never had a holosun but I’ve heard amazing things. That brings me to my questions. out of the holosun 407 and 507…which do you prefer and why? Do you know the difference between the elite models and standard (all I found was that it’s a green dot. Housing is the same at least on the 407)). What’s the biggest difference between the 407/507 other than the addition of a 32MOA circle.
407c-x2 is $149
HE407c-x2 is $169 (elite)
507c-x2 is $193

I have the 507k v2 and it's great. I was considering the 407k but chose the 507k because I wanted the option of having the 32moa circle. I'm glad I did because once I got I prefered the circle with a dot rather than just the dot.

Yep, the circle is enough for me to go 507 all day long.

The circle dot is money. Holosun has sold me a lot of optics because of it. Chinesium not withstanding it is solid quality. I have seen enough get dropped and smacked around I am confident in their construction. I know a ton of LE that are into gear and equipment that use Holosun products with confidence.

Is it just easier to locate your red dot? Or other usefulness?

Yeah, that's it for me -- it's just faster to find the reticle. I use both the circle and the dot, so I use the dot for actual aiming, but the circle gets me to the dot.

Now if you want to go one step better as far as fast reticle acquisition, this is the cat's meow:

I have one on my bedside gun, I love it.

Funny you posted that one because that’s the exact one I’m looking at now. Got amazing reviews and primary has a good first responder discount

I personally love it, like I said. It makes it just natural to locate the reticle, I don't even need to think about it.

However, what really was meaningful to me was when I brought it to a monthly ladies' shoot, where we have a bunch of mostly-inexperienced shooters. Typically if I hand one of them a pistol with a red dot, it takes a moment for them to locate the reticle, sometimes they tell me it's not on, etc. However, on that day I brought the gun with the ACSS reticle, NOBODY even questioned it or asked for help -- they just picked up the gun and started shooting.

That's the regular 507C, right? So yeah, that's what most of the posts above are about, people like them.

I have both the ACSS and this model. I would go with the ACSS. I ran each on a glock MOS and the ACSS was definitely easier to work with. It was definitely easier to get consistent with my presentation.
