I guess I just never really understood them. I guess some, like the one pictured here, look kinda fun, but I can't imagine it doing a better job than something in a semi or bolt platform. I guess if you really wanted to shoot rimmed cartridges, but there are so many equivalent or better that would fit on a semi or bolt I don't see the point. Besides, heavy/slow slugs never seemed as interesting as super fast to me.

It always seemed like a craze created by gun mags/YouTubers/influencers/etc. They do look cool ringing steel at 50 or 100, and certain chamberings are great suppressed. But for self-defense they'd be way down the list.

I like the idea of at least some of the tactical levergun features. In this case for example the foward rail on top of the barrel seams like a great idea till I realized the didn't raise the comb of the stock. Another feature I've seen that does make sense is the threaded barrel on the big bores.

Calling them 'Tactical' seems weird as well. Maybe like how 'Heavy Six' is considered tactical, but there isn't much about a lever gun, shooting big, rainbow trajectory bullets super slow that is 'tactical'.

People ran out of things to do with semiauto and bolt actions. Magazine restrictions push people to find other ways to use the latest technology on a platform the weren’t initially designed for.
The next generation embracing the old ways awhile holding to the new ways. It’s just another evolution of the same rhythms we all have taken a part in.

Carry on.

How about a lever action 9mm AR?

Those black gun levers are extra scary Hollywood wet-dreams!
A 'Military grade" Black Gun that makes the click-click sound! :thumbsup2:

Coming to theaters near you.

If you could find one I'd pick up a threaded barrel .38/.357 for suppressed shooting. I am not a fan of tons of picatinny rails all over the damn thing though.

Agreed on both points there.

Threaded barrel + suppressor: Awesome. Extra bonus points if you come up with a suppressor that looks like a ~100 year old Maxim silencer. I've been thinking of doing one like that on an F1, but need the right rifle to put it on first.

Red dot sight - great if it's mounted down low to the barrel so you can get a decent cheek weld, NOT like the one shown in the OP. Way too many of these "tactical" lever gun setups mount rails and then optics on top of the rails so the whole contraption is wayyy too high to be used as a lever gun.

I've also seen rails and/or red dots mounted right over the front part of the receiver, which prevents the normal one handed carry that lever guns are so convenient for.

A scope is acceptable in the right setup, nothing wrong with that if it actually works for the application.

Rails everywhere - nope. That's just "tacticool" crap. Only use I'd have for that is a single short rail on the side or bottom to mount a light, for taking out varmints in the night with said suppressed .38 with 158gr hollow points. But rails all over the gun are just ghey, even worse than the mall ninja quad rail ARs that used to be popular 10-15 years ago.

Bipod? Eh. I use bipods on other rifles but can't imagine a realistic use for one on a lever gun, plus it takes away the "light and handy" aspect they are good for. But to each their own on that one I guess.

I'm not really a fan of the big loop levers either, but again - to each their own. I think they're a bit of a fad and not really necessary for most people.
