That is a very crusty British enfield. Likely 303 British caliber, but in that condition, who knows. Sporterized sort of. Based on the stock I would say a No.4 mk 1? https://www.tactical-life.com/wp-conten ... k-solo.jpg

I appreciate the information. Apparently serial number look ups on these are nonexistent for the most part. I'd really like to get it back into decent condition and shooting. The action still runs smooth, even though it's been abused.

That poor SMLE looks like somebody buried it 25 years ago. It’s not worth restoring in a financial sense, but would be a fun project. Lots of parts out there. The old girl deserves some love.

The old girl deserves some love. Not something I'd be interested in getting rid of, so a restore would definitely just be for personal pleasure haha. I'd really love to figure out how old it is. Any good resources for parts? Thanks!

Look at the metal band that's located under the bolt handle, there should be model information there.

There's a bunch of websites out there for the Enfield collector, but if you are having trouble finding info on the serial # then it's a good chance that gun is a Kyber rifle. The British Army and their colonies put a ton of numbers and proofs all over their guns so you should see them on the receiver, on the stock band, and on the bold. Looks like this one needs a lot of oil and love but it does not have a lot of rust. Check the headspace before you try shooting it. Kyber rifles usually don't have proofs or the proofs are wrong and in the wrong spots. Most kyber rifles aren't bad guns, but some have been fabricated in the equivalent of someone's backyard forge so your mileage may vary.
