I was thinking along similar lines last night. What if that brave Sandy Hook Principal had been a trained CPL shooter (and allowed to have a weapon in the school)? Instead of merely delaying the shooter a second or two by charging him unarmed, she might have been able to get off a head shot or two (in the narrow hallway) and ended the assault right there.

What I'll add to your idea, is to make the offer through the local Teacher's Union so they can offer it to their members. They might even pick up the cost of the 2nd hour. A few trained teachers in a school may help transition it from a Gun Free Zone (aka free-fire zone) to a Don't Tread on Us zone.

Good thinking out loud... kind of response (contacting the Teacher's Union)...

But really think about it. I do not think the Teacher's Union would vocalize their support of having their members get the training, so therefore, would not pass this info onto their membership.

Good thought but when reality meets pavement. Not going to work. I could certainly be wrong but not worth my time to use my energy to pursue.

It would be best if a Union member brought up the idea to their Safety Issues rep (or whatever they call it). When the provider suggests it, it can look selfish, but when member Safety is invoked (even to the extent that some teachers may now buy guns for home, but get no training on safe use), now that's different . . . .

So, I know we have union members here, but do we have any members of a Teachers' Union?
:peep:

The larger point is that getting the word out to a larger, and more diverse, community than WaGuns is needed. If only there was a community you had access to . . . something that would enable you to get LinkedIn to other folks.
