Nevada Cerakote is running a promo to cerakote furniture and mags in a matching finish. Or, I could cheap out and grab a set of grey furniture (the white is more of a subdued grey color). The Atlas handguards are really nice, but I'm not sure how they'll handle heat dispersion. Gonna find out this weekend.

Lamrith and I hit the range today. We were briefly accosted by Rutilate, but managed to give him the slip in short order so we could get back to shooting. :rofl9:

We started at the pistol range to do some testing of various guns and loads. I managed to confirm two things of importance:

1) My Kriss Vector is stunningly inaccurate with my 147-grain reloads. I dunno why, but I had a hell of a time hitting a 10" steel plate at 50 yards, even from the bench, and some shots would fly off to the side by a few feet. Must investigate further.

2) High-velocity .22 ammo is indeed subsonic out of a pistol.

Then it was off to the rifle range. I took my Finn M27 Mosin Nagant and my Tavor. I shot 10 rounds out of one and 40 rounds out of the other . . . want to guess which saw more action, and was more fun to shoot?

Image

Here's the view over the M27. 150 yards downrange there is a 10" steel plate, which had a very bad day.

Image

Speaking of that plate, here it is after I got it back safe and sound into my garage. See that chip out of the bolt head, and that thingy next to it?

Image

Here's a better view of said thingy:

Image

The base of it measures about 0.25" across. I think that's the steel core from one of the Mosin rounds! I was shooting Ukrainian surplus, made in 1984.

Another good day. :thumbsup2:

Made the 5 minute trip to Pantels and finally got the process started for a couple cans that arrived there March 12th. :facepalm2:
Probably would have had them by now if i had done it back then. A little irritated they Charge 50 bucks for the Kiosk use though, even Wades is only 35 bucks. :cussing:

Then i ran up to RFGC to do a little Trap shooting. The Computers were down so you couldn't pay with a card for the rounds, but i'm a member so i will just pay at the next visit.

I took a 100rd value pack that was in a larger lot of 12 GA ammo i bought from a member here and when i opened the 3rd box there were 4 rounds missing.
So i thought, "Ok, i will only shoot three rounds". Opened the 4th box and there were 5 rds missing, so i had to combine the two to get 25 for the Last round.

Kind of irritating, i didn't feel like i needed to open all of the boxes in the lot to check, but lesson learned. Oh well, i still got a little shooting in so not a bad day.
:wagwoot:

1) WTF, slacker. That's crazy that you waited so long.

2) Please explain the kiosk fee. Did you buy these suppressors from Pantel? Or are you doing some kind of private transfer?

1) I know, right? I simply forgot about them to be honest....when i periodically remembered i would be at work, or it would be when they were closed, etc.

2) i bought them from Lambo Armory when i saw an ad on here that was a screaming deal. I paid the Transfers and Taxes months ago, but needed to get signed up with Silencer shop for Kiosk usage and that's when i promptly forgot about them.

I will be giving Josh some Shit about the 50 dollar charge, that's ridiculous. Especially with all the shit i have bought there.

Oh, i bought a stripped Lower while i was there too, for the Pistol i am putting together.

Forgot to mention the two 40 rd Aluminum HK-33 mags i ordered arrived today from Apex as well, they show lots of wear and some minor dings for 150 bucks delivered. icon_eek

Cheap HK-93 mags are long gone, that one hurt.

I was going to say something about the shooter having a bad day when I saw it happening. But then Wyatt Erp pulled out the .357 revolver and proceeded to hit the same plate 4 out of 6 shots free standing so I made the tactical decision to say nothing at all.

It was a good day at the range. Bunch of pistol. Then over to Rifle and got three newly configured guns and optics sighted in.

Nice. Bit of a drive from Puget Sound though a really nice range and it's a pretty drive. Used to go to ICORE matches there and have been once to their annual machine gun shoot. Miss that place.

Nowadays would have to drive to Houston for ICORE, right around a 3 hour drive each way.

Edit:
Ordered a couple different types of 38 Special defensive loads for testing
Toying with the idea of buying a ballistic gelatin block for testing

Signed up for some advanced handgun training at one of our local schools. Shooting on the move, multiple targets with distance change-ups, group shooting from 7-25 yards, two handed/strong hand/weak hand shooting, reloads, shooting from cover, drawing and shooting from seated, kneeling, and prone positions. Looking forward to learning new skills and getting evaluated on my current shooting.

Some BP aroma therapy on Saturday morning. Original trapdoor and a Cimarron 7th Cav Colt 45 replica.
I think I pissed off the guy that bellied up right next to my bench at the end (he had 10 others to choose from) and set up his Labradar.
Everytime I fired 500 grs of pure love down range with 65 grs of Old Enysford 1.5F it 'blinded' his Labradar. At least I think it did. He took a long pause everytime I prepped a cartridge for the trap door and closed it.

Isn't painting ammunition redundant? :ROFLMAO:
