I just placed an order for a Colonial 30 (changed it from an order for a NWSafe "Armor 30" which appears to just be a Dakota DS30. Made in US vs made in China, better outlet kit (rj45!), UL Listed vs not-UL listed, as the main reasons for the switch).

I'm now looking at accessories I want, and came across this: http://www.cabelas.com/product/Liberty- ... 370816.uts

Here's a video explaining: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gR3xcFg8Ju8

Seems like a neat idea - but my only concern is what will happen if there's an earthquake or something - will they all topple? Does anyone use these that can speak to how well they work?

Im inclined to think that any earthquake that would topple them would cause other damage to other things which would be more of a concern than your guns falling on one another in your safe.

"The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction." - St. George Tucker

"To ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the innocent and law-abiding that their rights and liberties depend not on their own conduct, but on the conduct of the guilty and the lawless, and that the law will permit them to have only such rights and liberties as the lawless will allow...

For society does not control crime, ever, by forcing the law-abiding to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of criminals. Society controls crime by forcing the criminals to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of the law-abiding." - Jeff Snyder

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

Agreed, absolutely - I guess my concern is just around them falling over on their own. The video even shows them not looking THAT secure when they put them in. It looks like a great idea though, even if I won't be space contained right away in my safe using the included gun rack.

I looked heavily at these before deciding what to do to gain more space in my safe. I finally settled on putting all my long guns in silicon impregnated gun socks. This way I don't have to worry about them bumping into each other or rubbing up against something. This also includes when they are coming into and out of the safe. I've seen a few people bump guns on the door frames of safes and scratch them.

I have a set also, I've just been to lazy to install. For the price it won't hurt to try.

I use them, and they work very well. I have them in socks and upright. No complaints.

For AR's you need to keep the stock extended or set them on something to get them to the point where the rod can hold them.

If you're concerned about rifles falling over in your safe during an earthquake, the best solution is to simply stack more rifles in the safe. They work together nicely, providing mutual support.

They may experience a little chafing with prolonged movements when pressed up against each other, but that's part of the fun.

I tried using that rationale on the wife for stacking some more talent in the sack.

Mutual support, more chafing when pressed up against each other, etc.

She didn't buy it.
