Lots of people saying they dont always agree with them. Not bashing or anything but lets think about this. Are you saying that to try and somehow atone for the sake of those who would bitch about the organization in general or things the NRA may have done that many disagree with, or maybe simply because the organization is so slandered in the media that we subconsciously feel like we need to add the caveat? Or is it just that you want to make that statement for some other reason?

Of course I dont agree with everything the NRA has done or wants to do, but I agree with most of it. I cant think of a single organization with which I would agree 100% of the time can you think of one you would?

I make no apologies (oblique, implied, or otherwise) for belonging to an organization that really does do a lot to defend the second amendment and our right to own firearms for legitimate reasons other than simply hunting.

Again, not bashing. Just honestly curious because I see and hear this a lot and in my mind there is no need to qualify ones membership to the organization.

"The right of self defence is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction." - St. George Tucker

A careful definition of words would destroy half the agenda of the political left and scrutinizing evidence would destroy the other half. - Thomas Sowell

"To ban guns because criminals use them is to tell the innocent and law-abiding that their rights and liberties depend not on their own conduct, but on the conduct of the guilty and the lawless, and that the law will permit them to have only such rights and liberties as the lawless will allow...

For society does not control crime, ever, by forcing the law-abiding to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of criminals. Society controls crime by forcing the criminals to accommodate themselves to the expected behavior of the law-abiding." - Jeff Snyder

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

That's a good point.
I'll do some self-analysis... My acknowledgement of the NRA's faults comes from knowing that many here are quite angry with the NRA after 594, so basically trying to acknowledge their gripes.
This isn't meant to reopen old 594 wounds. Let's not rehash that in this thread.
When speaking with non-NRA non-2A people, I present as NRA lifer confidently and with only positive things to say. I reply to criticisms with facts and confidence. I present my NRA as champions of a Natural RIGHT.

If you do the 5 year option, do you get the magazine for 5 years or only the first year?

I haven't looked at it for a while, but I did have 3 of the mags coming at once for awhile.
If memory serves, the first magazine is included with your membership and any additional mags are 1 year subscriptions.

Because the extra is for one year. They will send a renewal form in the mail when its time to renew the extra subscription like a normal yearly mag subscription. I think they do it so that people that dont want to renew the extra dont have to take the trouble to call to cancel. It cancels by default if you dont renew the second sub.

I do not think it is to defend their choice to join to other 2A members. I think it is more simply to say that they are joining even though they do not agree. That is it worth the investment to join for the simple fact of protecting our rights. I am one of those I recently rejoined after not being a member for a number of years. That was due to 594 especially, but that is far form the 1st time that the NRA has turned on gun owners and "given away" rights in concessions when laws are being pushed. A great many feel that they do not really have our backs and cannot be trusted to defend us when the pressure really gets high.

JPFO too! They have a different, but noteworthy cause is in education which is critical, and especially how gun control causes genocide.

If you want to pressure politicians, NRA, GOA, SAF (any other?)

If you want direct pressure to the people, JPFO.

ALL GOOD.
