I only saw it once, that they were not going to be selling brands from companies that also sell guns. I know camel back was one that was listed, I guess they are owned by Savage Arms.
Has anyone else heard this or can they confirm it?
They did say they were wanting to see how the gun maker treated things after the Florida shooting and would re evaluate.

Camelbak is owned by Vista Outdoors as of 2015.

Vista also owns Bushnell, Savage Arms, CCI, & a myriad of other companies in the shooting sports industry.

It’s weird. I didn’t even realize Savage made an AR. Streisand effect!

Thanks NW Gunner. I did just read in the REI web site the same thing. Guess my dividend will not be used this year or any more.

Well backcountry.com is a pretty sweet alternative with competitive prices and policies. Go to REI to get shit fitted then just order from Backcountry

It is funny how the progs flock to REI and feel like the business is so "woke".

They are the BORG and swallow up smaller companies only to offshore the products formerly made in small independent shops domestically (that is if they just don't kill the small guys outright)

Your actions to boycott them will be better served if you include a letter to management about WHY you are discontinuing or suspending business with them. And VOTE on the board seats. (or run for office yourself)

I returned a sleeping pad that I bought earlier this year after I used it extensively in the field during a training exercise.

I was also carrying my 26.

REI is dead to me.

I felt like I had to wash my hands after going in there....so I did.

This.

I worked at a small mom and pop outdoors shop in Kentucky and REI was the evil empire.

Fortunately that shop is still open so when I need something I order it from them.

They don’t have much of a web store. The physical shop is twice as big as when I worked there though.

I haven't bought anything there in at least 25 years, so guess I've been boycotting before it was cool. Hahaha

My former boss was an avid mountain climber, took a sweater back to REI because some of the yarn unraveled.
No receipt.
The clerk asked when he bought it....'about 15 years ago'.
Clerk pulled out some old catalogs and found the sweater, refunded the full purchase price plus sales tax at the time.
