I take no credit for these, but think they are very valid and should be supported: "Blaming the NRA for school shootings is like blaming the AAA for drunk driving."
"If You Don’t Have to Give Up Your Car Because Others Drive Drunk With Theirs… Then Why Do You Have to Give Up Your Guns Because Others Commit Crimes With Theirs?..."
"You don’t need 30 rounds to hunt! Correct, but the Second Amendment was not written in case the deer turn against us."
"Last time I checked, it’s not called the 'Bill of Needs'."
"Blaming assault rifles for the recent shooting is like blaming airplanes for what happened on 911. – Chuck Woolery"
"Why Do All Mass Shootings Happen in Gun-Free Zones? The Same Reason They Don’t Happen at Gun Ranges."
"The Founding Fathers Wrote 'Arms', Not 'Muskets'"
"Politicians and billionaires are in favor of gun control, as long as it doesn’t affect their bodyguards."
"If you cannot see the irony in having a gun ban enforced by men with guns, then you fail to understand why the Second Amendment was written in the first place."
"We don’t blame cars for drunk drivers. Why blame guns for violent people?" I got most (all?) of these from here: http://www.gun-shots.net/category/memes Some are poster/placard worthy as-is.

A really effective sign would show two or three recognizable faces of people that have been killed by LEO mistakes or overzealousness.
Below that it reads:
Imagine, if you will, a world where a monopoly on force is held only by those, deemed by the chosen, to be worthy of possessing a gun.
No disrespect meant to LEOs.

And since they've pushed them as a focal point of their agenda, then why should the children/students (or any other citizen) be treated with any less protection? I'd love to hear their retorts ....

Kids are just missed opportunities for abortions.
If you can't harvest their organs, what good are they?

Personal weapons are what raised mankind out of the mud, and the rifle is the queen of personal weapons. The possession of a good rifle, as well as the skill to use it well, truly makes a man the monarch of all he surveys. It realizes the ancient dream of the Jovian thunderbolt, and as such it is the embodiment of personal power. For this reason it exercises a curious influence over the minds of most men, and in its best examples it constitutes an object of affection unmatched by any other inanimate object.

I like the Ben Franklin quotes. Hard to argue with his insight.
I also like someone’s suggestion of: I don’t recall them being named the Bill of Needs
