I'm sitting in an RSO meeting at Cascade Shooting Facilities and a member said that Renton Fish and Game has been sold and will be closing. I guess a land developer bought the property.

Any truth to this?

Oh yeah . . . I was gonna go to that meeting.

Haven't heard a thing about RFGC. I sure hope this is #fakenews.

I’m headed there tomorrow.

I’d say not true for RFGC. But one truly never knows these days. All clubs are at risk and with property value at extreme highs it wouldn’t take much to throw in the towel.

Not just fake news, but imaginary too. Renton Fish & Game has not been approached in decades regarding an attempt to buy the property.

I'd really like to talk to the person who passed this info along and then kick 'em in the nuts. :cussing:

A couple of pointers I want to make clear.

Quote:
Club History
Established in 1933, the Renton Fish & Game Club has been open and serving the community for more than 75 years. The club is located about 5 miles east of Renton. We are one of the oldest and the largest shooting ranges in King county. For over a half century, we have been providing a safe place to shoot, learn about shooting sports, and the safe use of firearms through various training programs.
The Renton Fish & Game Club is a sports conservation club. The bulk of our 40 acre site is preserved as a wildlife sanctuary. All sorts of plants and animals make their homes on the club grounds. The club engages in numerous conservation activities throughout the year such as stocking streams with fish as part of the Bellevue Stream Team and acting as stewards of Cavanaugh Pond. The club participates in several conservation projects around the state every year.

There is a clause in the Bylaws for dissolution. I am a voting member and there has been no vote.

Quote:
ARTICLE X: Dissolution
Section 1. In the event of a dissolution of the RF&GC any remaining assets shall be donated either to non-profit corporation/s whose agenda supports the Second Amendment to the Constitution of the United States or another shooting facility/s. Provided that all organizations receiving any of the assets of the Renton Fish and Game Club shall meet the requirements of the Washington Non-Profit Corporation Act or successor statute as applicable. Determination of the recipient/s of RF&GC assets will be obtained by a positive response to a mailed ballot vote determining said recipient/s by those members eligible to vote.

If you're a frickin' n00b :wink05: and planning to do your volunteer hours with RSO or gatekeeper duty, it's actually good to go to one of the meetings to figure out what the heck to do.

Nah, I'll just do a half-assed job and then blame you. I'll say that's how you told me to do it.

Thanks for all the clarification. I'm glad it's not true, when I heard it, I thought it was BS, now I know.

Thanks all
